This exhibition explores the darkness within and the monsters that surround us.
Things that go bump in the night. The shadows out of the corner of your eye. Monstrous entities from the depths of the sea. The self you only see when you stare into the abyss. Paralysis demons that crush you as you sleep. Alien beings hiding in plain sight. Creatures only ever seen within the mind.

Wellington based tattoo artist specialising in high-texture grotesque artistry. Degradation of form, controlled brutality and morbid creatures of all kinds seeking passage into the mortal world.

My art is a reflection of my journey through New Zealand’s wild heart. Every brushstroke carries the echoes of the South Island forests, where I grew up exploring with my survivalist father, learning not just how to survive in nature, but how to truly see it. Those long tramps—surrounded by towering trees, delicate ferns, and the songs of native birds—stirred my imagination and instilled in me a deep respect for the natural world.
With this series, I aim to capture more than just the physical beauty of New Zealand’s flora and fauna. I want to evoke the emotions I felt as a child—wonder, awe, and connection. Through watercolour and ink brushes, I try to convey the fluid, dreamlike quality of these memories and the vibrant spirit of the creatures that inhabit our land.
Art, for me, is not just a form of expression—it’s a way to honor the landscapes that shaped me. My hope is that my work will inspire others to look closer, to cherish the details, and to feel the same sense of magic and respect for the natural world that I do. Aotearoa’s beauty is a gift, and it’s my privilege to share it through my art.

My name is Grace, and I am a twenty four year old multi-disciplined artist based in Wellington. I am currently studying for a diploma in Art & Creativity, and aspire to pursue a career in tattooing.
My work is created intuitively with a variety of mediums including screenprinting, acrylic, inks, digital and woodcut. I like to incorporate a cohesive theme of dark and light subject matters and colour palettes, often combining the strange and unusual with what is typically perceived as delicate and beautiful.

This series of work reimagines the Higher Arcana of Tarot into fantasy creatures that attempt to explore the deeper personality of the cards they represent.
Specific colour palettes, gestures, and symbolism were chosen to bring these beings to life - both as characters and the symbols they come from.

I am Ashen
The water calls to me
If it says yellow
I pull colour from the sun

Lines possess a profound power, they embody more than mere strokes on a canvas or marks on a page. They shape and define, guiding the eye and evoking emotions with their precision or fluidity. In their simplicity lies complexity, weaving narratives and expressing the depth of human imagination. From the bold strokes of a master's brush to the delicate curves of calligraphy, lines whisper stories, provoke thought, and immortalise the artist's vision in a dance of form and meaning.
Marvel at the intricate interplay of geometric shapes, enigmatic abstract sigils, and bold experiments in calligraphy. Each piece is meticulously crafted, from custom tattoo designs that embody personal narratives to gallery-worthy artworks that challenge perception.
Immerse yourself in a celebration of creativity where every line carries meaning and transformative potential.
